1970s Rolex Cellini "Midas" ref.4017
A stunning and extremely elegant Rolex Cellini ref.4017 made in the 1970s. 18k yellow gold. Manual winding Rolex cal.1601 movement. Burgundy mirror finish dial without index, straight gold hands. Mounted on its original Rolex bracelet with signed gold-plated buckle.
This Rolex Cellini is the straight successor of the Midas line launched in the mid 1960s, designed to offer a broader variety of watches produced by the manufacture the Midas/Cellini line always focused on dress watches and are the elegant side of Rolex compared to the sportier main line of production. So, on the Cellini models Rolex played with a variety of case designs, funky dial materials etc... Some have aged not too well being a bit “too much” while some other watches have aged just perfectly to that subtle balance between extravagance and elegance. This reference 4017 offered here proves to be one of the most elegant watches available on the market, the intriguing shape of its case, the mirror finish, and the asymmetrical bracelet are just nowhere else to be found. Clearly a stunning watch for a gentleman that wants to stand out.
